At Pumicestone State School we have a Speech Language Pathologist, Ms Sally Zingleman who works here 3 days a week.
Work with teaching staff to optimise explicit teaching of learning activities to build the communication skills of all students
Identify students with difficulties in communication. Communication can encompass any of the following
Speech (how sounds are produced)
Language (making sense of and using words/sentences/paragraphs to communicate with others)
Phonological awareness (knowledge of sounds in words, important for learning to read)
Reading and writing (where there is a basis in phonological awareness),
Fluency (speaking with good rhythm and flow)
Support communication development of students with identified needs.
