At Pumicestone State School, we believe that optimising every student’s opportunity to achieve their potential lies at the heart of Queensland Education Department’s commitment to all students.
In line with Education Queensland policy, our vision for students who are gifted is that they feel valued in a learning environment which both challenges and supports them to pursue excellence and develop a passion for lifelong learning.
Pumicestone State School’s Burangaman (Local Gubbi Gubbi word for Thinking) kids program provides challenging extension opportunities to children with exceptional academic capacities. Burangaman Kids provides our Forward Learners an opportunity to go beyond the general curriculum being delivered in the classroom, working with similar likeminded students, where they will receive appropriate enrichment and mentoring activities. Burangaman Kids will meet weekly with our Burangaman Co-ordinator/s. Students are nominated by their classroom teachers to be screened by our Burangaman committee. Students will then be assigned to the program.
